Er... anyone still out there?

Dunno if you are, but i'll type away just in case there's at least one. Been a LONG time away, a combination of other hobby and interests taking over, me moving more into Facebook for journal posts like these, and most recently Instagram. But i'm back now and, with talk of a new BBC series based on the book, i'm sure there will be more in the way of posts from me soon. To tide you over, have this really rather bizarre Correa illustration, which i'm guessing shows the narrator having a nightmare while down in that cellar - how else do you explain the Martians sitting around him and the Parson and, what is that? a Tripod blueprint? Or another vision tormenting him?

Just FYI, this blog is in my "morning check" folder, so I check it almost EVERY DAY to see if there's anything new. :)

Blimey, how have I not come across this blog before? I see from your profile you're into some of the same stuff I'm into, especially vintage SF! I'm also a bit of a WOTW nut and have accumulated hundreds of images from the Net over the years, as well as many editions of the novel (including a complete pristine set of original 1897 Pearson's Magazine for £40 from a charity shop ten years ago!).

I love your modelling projects (I've also checked out your fabulous spaceships on your other blog).

I've also dabbled with modelling subjects from the novel. Way back in 2008 I was going to make a stopmotion puppet of a Martian. This was an on-off (mainly off) project for years and never did get finished... However, sculpted masters of my Martian did get made (well, almost) and the armatures for the tentacles did end up in a stopmotion project, albeit in a very different form...

Martian Mk II

Martian Mk III

How the tentacle armatures ended up being used...
